Alright, let's talk about this album once more, shall we? Of course we shall, because It's more than just an album to me; it's a raw expression of frustrations and convictions I've been wrestling with my entire life.
It's also my blog, and I'm callin' the shots 'round these parts!
Instead of talking about every track, I whittled the Thoughts of Vacant Care series down to a four track breakdown of the overall project.
"Action," the opening track, was my way of setting the tone. I needed to lay down some groundwork, to show where my head was at when I started this whole project. I enjoyed writing this song because I found a neat poetry style, and went to work with it to tell a quick story with imagery for that track.
Look, I can't control anyone, and I'm not trying to. But damn it, I had to draw a line. I had to make it clear just how disappointed I am with the limits people set for themselves. There's also a push to point at the consequences of these constant mistakes, but I doubt anyone would notice when they're too butt-hurt over their L's being on full display.
Then came part two of this whole "Vacant Care" breakdown:. With "idc," I'm diving into some of the deeper themes, the wordplay, and yeah, even those "thinly veiled threats." that always seem to accompany a long term whatever mindset to the opposition who refuses to fuck off.
Now, I'm not talking violence, aight?. These are threats of a different kind. They're threats of giving away valuable knowledge for free, in a world that tells me I should be squeezing every last dime out of anything I create. That's the whole "internet guru" spiel, right? Monetize everything, even if it's worthless. But I have a soul, which, let's be honest, makes me terrible at marketing.
Buy my wares if you wanna. It really won't change my disposition. I'm not gonna greet you in public regardless, just so you know.
I just want to talk about the ideas, the vibes, the whole damn feeling behind this project. If people buy the album, cool. If not, I hope they find something else they truly want to support.
Part 3 focuses on "Heavy." What really gets under my skin is the gap between "doers" and "tryers." I've got a natural disdain for those who just dabble, who waste their time playing around. I’m all about pushing forward, making progress. I can't stand seeing people squander their potential.
And let's be real, talk is cheap. I've heard so much empty noise from people who can't be bothered to actually change their lives. If you want my attention, make some sense. Actually do something. I had some fun playing with words during the recording about "One Thing," I’ll admit. It was a way to get my point across with a bit of bite, a bit of style, if you will(which I did, because I'm cool like that.)
"Vacant Care" is my way of saying I'm done with the bullshit. I'm done with empty words and the relentless push to monetize everything. I'm putting my ideas out there, raw and unfiltered. If you get it, great. If not, that's fine too. But I'm not holding back anymore.
